Bluebonnet’s private kindergarten is a departure from public kindergarten. Your child will enjoy the nurturing, enriching, individualized, warm, inviting environment of our kindergarten class.

Our extraordinary kindergarten teaching team, led by a highly qualified master teacher with a bachelors degree in elementary and early childhood education and two masters degrees in fine arts, creates a rich environment where the teachers use every classroom activity to teach concepts in math, social studies, science and reading.
  • Strong individualized curriculum. At Bluebonnet our curriculum is individualized and meets each child’s individual developmental needs. Our program fosters children’s emerging literacy skills, while still giving those beginning readers a strong opportunity to learn and grow in their skills. Mathematics education is a pivotal part of our curriculum, beginning with hands-on activities using manipulatives and personal experience to teach mathemathical concepts.

  • Low teacher to child ratio. Our low teacher to child ratio (12:1 instead of 22:1 in public school) allows each child enjoys many opportunities for one-to-one learning with our teachers.

  • Children’s assessments. Children’s assessments are based on careful individual observations on fifty different criteria. The curriculum is adapted to each child, according to his or developmental level and skills set.

  • Frequent outdoor large-muscle play. Activities using large muscles outdoors interspersed with quieter indoor time enable children to concentrate better and focus more easily on classroom learning activities. Our kindergarten children go outside at least twice a day for forty-five minutes each for outdoor classroom time, as well as free play on our exciting playscapes and soccer field. (Public school usually allows twenty minutes a day of outdoor time.)

  • Spanish and music for all children. Spanish and music classes are routinely taught to every child at least twice a week by our own Bluebonnet highly qualified enrichment teachers.

  • Admission of younger children. Bluebonnet’s kindergarten program admits children who turn 5 as late as January 1, rather than the September 1 date required by Texas public school. Admission to our program depends upon an evaluation of the child by our administrators.

Part-Day or Full-Day programs are available. Our kindergarten class begins its activities at 8am and runs until 3pm. Early care is available from our opening at 6:30am at no extra charge, but after-school care is available for additional charge with limited availability.
