Bluebonnet Founders

The Bluebonnet story goes back to 1995 when Charles and Nancy Chick first purchased a preschool, in northwest Austin, in support of their desire to provide families with a quality child care environment.

“When I was a working mom with preschoolers, it was almost impossible to find high quality, full-time child care with small group sizes and qualified loving teachers. The only real quality was in part-time programs. My passion is to provide today’s parents with that high quality care that was missing for my children,” said Nancy.

After building this former school’s programing, solidifying the staff and ultimately becoming NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accredited, the Chick family sold the school in order to build the early childhood facility of their dreams.

Bluebonnet School of Cedar Park opened in 2002 as the child-centered preschool with small group sizes and amazing teachers they wished had existed twenty years earlier for their young family. The school grew quickly and in 2007, it was recognized as National Child Care Center of the Year by the National Association of Child Care Professionals. A second location, Bluebonnet School of Canyon Creek, opened in 2012 serving neighborhoods near Concordia University, Grandview Hills, Riverplace and Steiner Ranch.

Today both Bluebonnet schools are NAEYC accredited and are recognized as the best of the best preschools in the northwest part of the Austin area, Cedar Park and Round Rock.
